On the last goal, can't really blame the Leafs for playing aggressively, gotta take risks to when you're down a goal late.

Liles shoudn't pinch all the way to forecheck a guy behinf the Philly's net... Gardiner held his position...

I know we needed a goal, but I question putting our two riskiest defencemen (Liles and Gardiner) and our three weakest defensive top-6 forwards (Lupul, Kadri, and Kessel) all out on the ice together.

Might as well play it out 2 mins and pull the goalie instead. That was the left side's responsibility though, I don't think Gardiner did much wrong, Liles bears the greatest share to me.

A forward is normally supposed to cover the point when Liles goes in deep. I'd pin it on the forward before Liles.

This game is a perfect example of the reason I said the Leafs won't make the playoffs. Teams that otherwise play a good game and get good goaltending, and lose because of special teams, don't get into the playoffs.

Did the Leafs even have a power play SHOT tonight??

Agreed. Like I said, I had no problem with the pinch. That's what Liles was brought here to do. He carried the puck into the zone with authority and got it in deep. Then everybody got crowded on the right side of the ice. Gardiner should have backed up a little bit and moved to the left where Liles left an opening and one of the 3 forwards on the right side of the ice should have moved back to cover Gardiner.

Yeah, normally but didn't Liles hesitate then cross the ice? I thought it was ill timed given the state of play but maybe I missed something.

What's the standard when down a goal late.  Should the forward still cover the point, or do you push 4 down low?  Seriously asking here, as I've never played actual hockey and don't know.

I don't understand why Kadri and Frattin only played a shade over 11 minutes tonight each, and neither of them got a second of powerplay time.

The Pronger injury rallied the Flyers to play like they did...It might have been a Leaf win if it wasn't for that.At least I would think so.

I would've just said: Don't take chances with the Jagr line.

Done.

Leafs only had 3 powerplays?

Pinching is part of being aggressive, He carried the puck in dumped it in and chased it, his winger should've covered for him.

To me, both Kadri & Kessel, came over the boards for a change and chased the puck from the left side over to the right side of the boards while Lupul tried to pinch with Liles behind the net. One of those two, Kessel or Kadri should have hung back. Gardiner couldn't very well leave the right side with the puck on that side of the ice though he did move away from being tight to the boards.

Kessel and Kadri got chasing the puck individually from a fair distance away rather than one of them minding a position on the left side that could well have developed offensively as a good option if the Leafs had recovered the puck. the Flyers just passed the puck around them and they had taken both of themselves out of the play with Liles having no backup. I'd pin it more on one of those two guys.

Yeah, I should have wrote that Gardiner moving to the left side should have been say phase 2 of the proper defensive play there. I only think that he should have done it because had Kadri or Kessel thought to cover Liles, it would have been easier for them to drop to the right point as opposed to crossing Gardiner to skate over to the left.

I'm torn...I hate to see anyone get hurt, but it's pronger. Should I feel guilty?

I don't. I'm just curious to know if I should.

Nah. Dirty players getting hurt falls within the realm of karmic justice. You can be happy about karma.

I gotta see another replay, that one didn't go far enough back for me to see the the choice Liles made but yeah, it looks like I thought one of the two forwards peeling to the right side was Liles, not one of Kadri or Kessel. Yeah, one of them should have covered, probably Kadri.
