Gustavsson

26/28 tonight and save percentage up to 901 for the year.

But really, the stat that matters - Wins: 8 Not bad for a back up

8 wins against 4 losses. Can't complain about that from a backup and a lineup where a bunch of others have been injured. When Reimer went down, what rational Leafs fan wouldn't have taken that record?

As Wilson said tonight, his play gives them the luxury of not bringing back Reimer until he's 100%.

The team has been playing well in front of him AND Wilson seems to have faith in him again.  That's probably the biggest thing and it really is a luxury with Reimer.  Although these next two are probably going to be tough, regardless of who is in net.

So assuming (correctly I think) we're in tough against Boston, who do you start? I mean, I don't want Goose to get unglued again now that he's got it together but at the same time, is it fair to throw Scrivens to the wolves? Know what I mean?

Maybe I'm on a little high from their recent play but my sense is the team the Bruins are going to face is not the same team they faced previously. This group has come together to play as a team. Physically, it's no contest and anything could happen but I have my doubts the Bruins are going to run them out of the building this time around in terms of the score.

If he's healthy and ready to go I think you have to start Jonas and go from there.

they've also played some hard hitting teams as of late ...and lived to tell the tale..i think that experience is going to be big going forward.. ..still..boston is pretty hot right now

8 wins already vs. 6 for all of last year for Gus. Good for him, his recent play has really solid, if not huge, for the team.

Against teams not named Boston:

8-3, .911 SV%.

Can't complain with that especially considering it's from the backup.

That is really key. Before, it was like the team could only play well in front of Reimer and when Gus came in, if he was a bit shakey, instead of rallying, they lost their confidence. Now they are giving him some support scoring and he's responding as well. It's like they are feeding off each other. Good to see, indeed.

I was one who was saying get rid of the bum. He has proven me wrong, and I am glad for it. With the way Gus is playing reimer can take his time. He is looking extremely good.

Me too. I was ready to dump Gustavsson, I known many Leafs fans who felt the same way. Guess this is why we're not coaches or GMs. He's proven a lot of people wrong. I'm overjoyed about it.

Before this year, Gus had a pretty decent record against the Bruins.  Maybe he can find that touch again.

Imagine the statement game it would be for Gustavsson to bounce back against the Bruins after being written off so early?  The confidence it would create for the rest of the team?  A dream scenario really, beating the Stanley Cup champs to extend your winning streak to 4 games with your backup goalie.

While they are undefeated in 11.

Geez, they're 11-0-1, you have to figure they're due for an outright loss at some point?  Why not to the Leafs?
