Holland up, D'amigo down

These moves seem plain crazy and desperate to me.  Change for the sake of change, really.  Ultimately, why was Holland sent down a week ago?  Conditioning?

Yes, I agree.  A well-functioning team does not typically rotate guys up and down to the farm team for 1-2 games at a time.  It smells of disfunction and/or internal disagreements in the organization.

Someone commented on Twitter that this happened with Gardiner two seasons ago.  Wilson wasn't playing him, Burke sent him to the minors for 1 day, he was recalled and played a lot of minutes the rest of the season (where Wilson was fired).

I see -- was that a well-functioning team? :-)

Orr is another name for lead therefore: Orr=Anchor?.. this sinks ships and Leafs

I get your point, but you're referring to "ore".  It's also a different than iron and........oh my God, what have I become?

Like clockwork I believe.

Carter Ashton still has offensive upside, I think some people here have soured on him and labelled him as a face puncher and little else.

I would like to believe so, but his 10 game stretch in the AHL is going up against 1 assist in 36 career NHL games and an AHL career high of 38 points in 63 games.  Those numbers don't scream anything more than 3rd/4th liner at best.

As for Holland yet again being on the 4th line.  Carlyle has absolutely no intention of changing his style of play.  It is up the players to conform to his system that isn't working.  Why expect anything different.

It's even better though.  Clarkson isn't on the ice so Ashton moves to the 3rd line.

McLaren - Holland - Orr

Yep.  2nd round pick + defensive prospect Jesse Blacker (17 points in 19 AHL games) for a guy the coach is only willing to play 5 minutes a night on.  Fantastic asset management.

So the thinking was (Clarkson hurt)-->(move Ashton up)-->(hole at 4th-C)-->(call up Holland to be 4C) ??

Although if Holland is replacing Clarkson, why send down D'Amigo.... ARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
