Stay with me here. When was the last time Carlyle's line-up decisions made any kind of sense? Last season when Burke was still the teams GM. Gardiner was getting 20+ minutes a night. He seemed to genuinly want to play Kadri. Our shutdown line had actual shut down players on it. What's more likely? That Carlyle just lost his mind during the lockout, or that he and Brian are in cahoots?
I can't believe that we didn't see this sooner.

He is still a very good player, the problem is he is being used in a role that doesn't really allow for much offensive production, yet it seems the coach is unhappy that he's not lighting the lamp.
Seems strange.
I'd love to see them try this, if only for a game or two.TML fan said:WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:I don't see them being able to get good value back given the contract he has now.

He should be playing with Kessel and van Riemsdyk.

Not really nitpicking ... it's the difference between players/teams that take care of the details that win or lose the game. Plays like that are the kind that drive coaches insane. You can take the chance to make that play, but you darned well better make it. If your attempt is weak and is intercepted, it's easy for the other team to turn it into a very dangerous play.

@DavidAlter590 Colton Orr on a line with Grabovski and MacArthur at #leafs practice today.

Strangelove said:The odd thing about Randy is that I like a lot of about him. He doesn't whine and snarl at the media a la Ron, he runs the penalty kill properly (who knew that standing in a stationary box and allowing the opposing team to fire at will wasn't the way to go?), he's not afraid to run with young guys, etc.
But on the other hand some of his errors in judgment are pretty glaring, many of which have to do with how he uses his personnel in given situations (fourth line in the defensive end at a crucial moment? Leading scorer on the bench during a two minute 5 on 3 with the other line struggling mightily? Colton Orr everything? Use of Koska and Holzer?). It seems like he's slowly working to correct his stubbornness from earlier in the season, but we'll see.
