Okay okay okay

Very Hyman-esque in that he will take the puck in 1v4. Very much Hyman+ if he can just rip it into the net for funsies.

Big prospect updates with info on Robertson, Sandin, Amirov, Woll, Abramov, Anderson, Kokkonen, and Kral.

The note on Amirov was most interesting to me. His team was recently eliminated from the KHL playoffs and there was some speculation he would consider joining the Marlies for the rest of their season. But he's currently been assigned to his Russian teams junior affiliate, so he's now participating in their playoff run there.

If Amirov declined to sign an extension, is that why?  I would assume if they think he's leaving that Russia has a bit of that reputation of not caring about young players who want to go to North America earlier?

That appears to be everybody's read on the situation. Dubas also has Dan Milstein on speed dial at this point.

i.e. He's not going to be signed to an ELC for this season (to participate in the Leafs playoffs), but he could very well sign for next season + ATO with the Marlies.

I don't really see why that rules out him signing an ELC that starts this season (would obviously slide if that happens, but he'd still get a nice signing bonus). To me that possibly says both sides might want to wait until after the trade deadline to get things done, just in case.

It mostly just rules him out of the NHL playoffs.

He could still play, couldn't he? Since he's on their reserve list? I've thought there's been some NCAA guys who signed super late and still played in the playoffs but I could be wrong and don't feel like checking that rule. Regardless, we'd have to have like 10 injuries at forward probably before he was even remotely considered for that so it seems like a moot point.

I also don't want to check the rule and I thought they had to be on the SPC list. But Reserved List sounds right. So now I want Amirov in the playoffs.

I'd put him with Tavares.
