Ranking Prospects 2020-2021

8. Travis Dermott

Surprised Liljegren is coming in over Dermott with the way PPP has historically voted, but they?re about the same level for me: good (maybe very good eventually) 4-5 modern puck-moving defensemen. Could probably handle higher workloads as a sidecar option to a franchise-level partner.

A Dermott analysis video cropped up in the article comments
He's an exceptional skater in the lateral agility department (might have the best edgework on the d-corps at the moment); tops in escapability too, as he likes to draw forecheckers in deeper before squirreling away for an open pass or skating lane. He plays a riskier style in that way and I think coming back part way through the season after recovering from injury was tough on the timing and confidence he relied on (not to mention carrying play for Ceci).

I've always wondered what a defence of Muzzin-Dermott and Reilly-Holl would look like. Reading that thread just makes me curious to see it more.

I'm all-in; I'm a big Dermott fan. He's going to make mistakes, but I think he needs to be unleashed offensively, just as suggested in that article.

5. Nick Robertson

We are going to be seeing more of him soon

I was only being semi-hyperbolic when I said he has Hyman's motor and Matthews' shot(s).

*whispers guys, I?m trying to get a better trade here sheesh

Good guy in the locker room, blinding speed, always a short-handed scoring threat.

Has developed a nasty streak that adds a new dimension to his utility.

4. Rasmus Sandin

This guy is sooo hockey smart
I've shared this video analysis before but it's the perfect time to bring it up again:

2. Mitch Marner

Mitch, by unfortunate for him but fortunate for the Leafs circumstance, never got to sit in the #1 slot in the PPP T25U25. He'd easily be #1 on a lot of other teams.

Looking at that list I'm starting to think that trading two of Kerfoot, Johnsson and Kapanen might not just be a cap necessity, it also may be the thing to do to build up any kind of prospect depth.

The wind coming through his Ferrari F8 Spider as he drives to the bank to cash his bi-weekly cheque of $400K should dry his tears.

I'm not sure what's weirder, the idea that anyone drives to the bank to cash a check or you thinking that his bi-weekly paycheck is 400k.

You know NHL players only get pay cheques during the season, right? Also, his in-season salary is only $750K. He banks most of his earnings in one go.

Jumping into the Nylander party:

His play along the boards is easily the most underrated aspect of his game. Especially when contrasted with some of the complaints about his intensity/lazy play.
