2. Mitch Marner

Mitch, by unfortunate for him but fortunate for the Leafs circumstance, never got to sit in the #1 slot in the PPP T25U25. He'd easily be #1 on a lot of other teams.

They weren't gushing at all about Marner in that article.

It feels a little like contract backlash:

This year, I ranked Marner as second again, but I see the gap between him and Matthews as substantial, and I don?t think the Nylander ahead of Marner takes are invalid. I do think Marner is a legitimate top-line winger. But I also think he?s really overpaid.

Of all the wingers making over $9.5 million in the NHL, Marner gets the lowest proportion of his points off his own stick at 29%.

$11 million is a lot for a winger. I am very sure Marner is not worth that cap hit, and it didn?t take a pandemic-flattened salary cap to make me feel that way.

Abramov is on Russia's U20 team, centering line 2.

Another day, another Abramov goal to take a 6-0 lead.

I think it has a lot to do with our centres though. We have two of the premiere goal scoring centres. If one of them was more of a playmaker, Kapanen would fit.

He looked real effective with Kerfoot and Mikheyev albeit against depth opposition. He?s be first line winger on a few garbage teams right now and would probably be a 30G winger next to Crosby.

I agree. Both the Leafs top two centres are shooters. Both Crosby and Malkin are better playmakers. Kapanen is in a better spot.

What has Sam Girard done lately, huh?
*sobs

Edit: Opening the season with 2G and 1A on Lokomotiv?s top line
Looks like he has a spot on the ice picked out
Edit 2: pretty sure his centre, who is driving this line, is Vladimir Tkachyov who the Leafs were rumoured to be in pursuit of for the past handful of years

Player Eligibility:

All skaters who are 22 years old or younger as of Sept. 15, 2020, regardless of how many NHL games they?ve played, are included. Skaters older than 22 as of that date are not included if they have played 25 NHL games in a season or 50 career games. Goalies no longer qualify to the list if they have played 10 games in a season or 25 in a career. No player age 26 or older as of Sept. 15, 2020, are included.

The Leafs are at the 4 spot largely due to Auston Matthews being 22 until Sept 17, 2020.

Some notes on Nick Robertson at #7

Will his shot translate to the NHL?

Yes his shot will. He already has a great shot and it will get better with strength and technique.
