Ranking Prospects 2020-2021

Good clip of Ovchinnikov in that thread, scores a beauty.  Ovchinnikov sounds very close to Ovechkin doesn't it?
One can dream.

I?m getting Nik Antropov vibes. That?s Lokomotiv putting the screws to Amirov?s team, btw. Finally getting top line minutes, Korshkov leads his team in scoring 12pts/17GP

SDA's off to Russia. Torpedo currently sits 15th in the KHL (among 23 teams).

I wonder if they keep him there for the entire season instead of bringing him back to play in the ECHL/AHL. Suppose that'll depend on how he likes it there and how much ice-time he's getting.

Uniting the Semyons

Leafs need to draft a left winger called Semyon to complete the all Semyon line.

William Villenueve was on my shortlist of prospects to take a bite on in later rounds because of his production in junior. He definitely has things to work on (skating, actual defense) but there's a base of skill and vision to build on. His team is, charitably put, a firewagon (similar to the Oilers) where they try to 8-7 their way to results.

Ya Villeneuve is intriguing, Potvin who coached him raves about him, as do his Sea Dogs coaches.  Looks like Mono really set him back in his 16 year, he didn't tell the team he had it for a while. That is a kid who wants to play.
If skating is his biggest drawback then we have Barb to help him progress.  The big knock on the Goat early in his Leaf tenure was his skating. By the end his skating was fine, it was his lack of finishing and not using his size to advantage that sunk him.

Barb is really good at what she does, but there are physiological/psychological constraints to fundamentally changing the way a player skates, which also affect how they carry and move the puck. Ideally, you develop players towards becoming able to manipulate the puck independently of their footwork the way Matthews does when shooting and Nylander when carrying in transition.

I think she uses the term, getting the player "over the blade", she seems to know exactly where that is for every player.  I do agree that Nylander and Matthews skating seems so effortless.
She seems to have had a huge impact on a player like Brayden Point.  Nothing wrong with that guys wheels.

That'd be related to this: https://jhanhky.substack.com/p/dynamic-posture-101
i.e. getting all the leg joints stabilized over the blade (ankle, knee, hip) so that the centre of mass stays aligned with the skates, allowing for strong movement in all directions as required.

It's one of those things I hope Nick Robertson is able to fix, as he is hunched over quite a bit (too much hip bend?), exposing his head into elbow and even hip level on bigger opponents, not to mention limiting his on-ice vision.

Joins Lehtonen, Korshkov, SDA, Hallander, Malgin, Kral, and Rubins are Leaf players/prospects loaned to European teams right now.

edit: Thornton too, sorta.

Great article on Barb Underhill, best I have seen as yet;

Part of the article is about her friend, also a figure skater who has joined her company and just signed a contract with Tampa.  I would say that Barb is transitioning to a full time Toronto base. imho

Thanks! This one is quite good.

Her other friend, Dawn Braid, was the one that worked with Tavares earlier on.
