Thornton too, sorta.

Pretty promising prospect. I hope he makes the team out of training camp.

According the hockeydb, he's got 1g 2a in 2 GP.

That 2 points is only good for 6th on his team though.  We clearly should have signed Andres Amb?hl (3G 3A in 4GP) instead.

Keep an eye out for the hockey coach that most resembles a Bond villain since Guy Boucher, even wearing a tactical turtleneck.

He's very interesting. I remember watching him play thinking he was a smooth puck handler/skater. It's been so long since a formal training camp I'd love to see the prospects in some scrimmages.

That was pretty Marnery.
Semyon Der-Arguchintsev?s goal is in the linked Kyle Cushman thread

He looks like the coach from Iceland in Mighty Ducks

Ovchinnikov is back in action (as 1C) after suffering a minor injury several days ago. He definitely has a nose for the net.

A brief analysis of that first goal:

The guy who shoulder checks to 'defend' him... lol
Ovchinnikov was 2G 2A in a 5-4 OT loss yesterday. Today, he was 1G (GWG) 1A.

The weight shift and shoulder down to fake going outside before cutting middle and then slinging it just over the pad against the grain

How do we pronounce this guys name as I have feeling we will be saying it a lot in a few years? Can't we just call him our Ovechkin?

Podkolzin doing the bulk of the work there to help Amirov tie up the game in the dying minute

Amirov tallies a shootout marker as well

Really quick hands and the mind that can use it to manipulate goalie movement to his advantage.

After struggling with a concussion last season, Mikko Kokkonen (3rd rd 2019), is leading a struggling Jukurit squad in shot share. Somewhat drastically.

After playing some 20ish min for a stretch while teammates were out of the lineup, Amirov was relegated back to extra forward status when they returned.

In this tournament he gets to finally get more even deployment against his slightly older peers, and all he does is cash in goals.

Edit: Russia takes the tournament (3-0) with their U20 team against men. Amirov was trusted with most of Russia?s forward minutes, but only saw limited PP time. He finishes the tournament third in points, but first in goals (3G).

He should be a big part of Russia's WJC team this year. Possibly alongside Abramov, although it's tough to say if he'll get much consideration since he's playing in the QMJHL.

Yeah, I don't know that there'll be much room for prospects operating outside of Russia, given that this Karjala Cup team was already their U20 roster and travel restrictions will keep NA prospects out of camp contention.

Would be nice to have Abramov and Amirov and Akhtyamov all make the team though.

Other good bets to make their teams:
US: Nick Robertson
FIN: Mikko Kokkonen, Roni Hirvonen, Topi Niemela

Will probably depend on how much time they get in Edmonton to have a camp there. If they basically need to show up and play, they'll probably just stick with that Karjala team.
