The 2014 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

When is Janssen going to be back? He has been on the DL since March 29.

I wonder how much longer Santos is going to be on the team at this rate. He has been absolutely terrible.

I've been in denial about it for over a year, but I can no longer be blinded by it -- this team is just like the Leafs in that while there are a few talented pieces in place, the team's construction is so fundamentally flawed that it will never win anything in its current state.

I hate thinking this when there is so much season yet to play, but it's almost time for a reset (again). Almost 200 games as is now and this doesn't have the makings of anything more than a middling team.

Why do I get the sense Santos is going to end up on the DL relatively soon and that will be the reason (err, excuse) for his poor performances.

Holy cow, this team is a disaster. Up 6-2 in the bottom of the 7th, and after a leadoff double chased Dickey, Loup comes in and burns it all down. Game is tied a 6 going to the 8th. Unbelievable.

Edit: Another embarrassing performance as the bullpen coughs up another one in an 8-6 loss. Tying run was left at first in the top of the 9th.

Morrow goes to the 60-day DL which is a pretty reasonable suggestion that he's probably done for the year.

Marcus Stroman gets recalled.  He's one of the Jays decent pitching prospects.  He's a tiny guy so when he was drafted he was projected as more of a reliever...he was also supposed to hit the Majors fast as he was 21 when drafted.  Last year they decided to try him as a starter and he had a decent year in AA.  He has been great for the Bisons in AAA so far.  1.69 ERA 1.08 WHIP over 26.2 IP.

McGowan with a solid start, over 100 pitches for the first time in a long time.

Morrow done, also not a surprise given his history. The FAN suggested that we may have seen the last of him as a Jay - who knows. All I know is that he has been a huge disappointment - mostly because he can't stay healthy.

Early run support probably didn't hurt either.

He's one of the most frustrating Jays I can remember in a long time. When he's healthy, he can be absolutely dominant, but, because he's barely ever healthy for long stretches, he doesn't often get into that kind of groove.

True, but with the way the bullpen has been pitching lately, how much is enough? :)

And a second win in a row, with the starter AND the bullpen with solid performances!

So what is up with all these "tight muscle" injuries these days? What does that mean?

Just to add to this misery party, Colby Rasmus looks absolutely hopeless right now.  He is striking out like a fiend and swinging wildly.  I'm not saying he won't get his stroke back, but boy right now he looks lost.

He's now hitting .400 with 4HR and 11 RBI in May, slugging 1.218 coming into tonight's game over the last week.

Hutchison with 8 innings tonight against the Phillies.

Too bad he gave up 5 runs in the 6th to surrender a 5-0 lead. Hopefully the team pulls this one out for him.

Very odd start. He was cruising, then that inning gives up 5, then has retired the next 7 in a row easily.

I would be surprised if he came out for the 9th. 109 pitches?

I hope they leave Santos in the pen.

Edit: yaaay, sac fly in the 10th, Stroman with the win, Loup with the save!

Jays are the only team in the AL East to have scored more runs than they have allowed.  Wouldn't have thought that.

I noticed that today, as well. Most runs scored in the division coming into tonight's games, but, also tied for the most runs allowed.

Bautista leads MLB in walks, OPS & OPS+, and is currently fourth in the home run category.
