Anyone think that could get done?
I'd do it.
From a value perspective, it's not terrible, but, from a team building perspective, it doesn't really make sense for the Leafs. There just isn't the depth down to middle to be able to afford to move both Kadri without a top 6 centre coming back. Honestly, I don't think either team makes that trade.
With Kane and Byfuglien I have to be careful. I have watched quite a few Winnipeg games and the reason I would have wanted them is because Noel was horrible with both those players and I though the Leafs could buy low. With Maurice and the 11-3-1 stretch the Jets have been on I wouldn't want to pay top price for either player as they both do have issues. This is a case where I feel the player stats reflect them as a player.
Kane (15g 15a) is fast and has a great shot but he ISN'T as creative as Kadri (15g 27a) . Byfuglien (-16) cost the Jets so many games when he was a dman with poor coverage, horrible outlet passes and missed assignements that I have no idea why Noel left him on defense. Maurice has typically used him as a forward at even strength and a defenseman on the PP which has been significantly smarter.
I would rather just go for Kesler and Bieksa since Vancouver are desperate to make the play offs.
Bolland, Gardiner, + whoever.
It is quite unnerving as a fan that 2 of the 3 cornerstone contract Nonis has handed out since becoming the GM are to Phaneuf and Clarkson. What?? Pretty bad asset assessment.
