Rumour has it Flyers fans are passing the hat to raise money for baling wire and duct tape to hold Chris together.

I've lost track of all the recent surgeries he's had but I think it's 4-5 in the last year or so. (back, foot, hand & knee previously?)

The crazy thing is, when he's been able to crawl into the lineup, he's been able to contribute at a pretty high level.

Only five more seasons after this one left on his deal ...

Good post. That puts it into perspective. As great as Pronger has been his style of game has taken a toll. How many of those remaining 469 regular season games will he play in?

andrewsdsp: Kari Lehtonen will be out at least three weeks, according to Stars coach Glen Gulutzan.

So they'll go with Raycroft?

Raycroft had a respectable record with Dallas last season but is off to a rough start this year.

After receiving a hard hit on Monday night Crosby is sitting out the next two games. He says he did not feel well after the hit.

Was this the play where he ran into his own player?

Sounds like it

"Sidney took a hard hit during our game against Boston Monday night and wasn't feeling 100 percent," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said in a statement. "He saw Dr. Micky Collins of UPMC today and took an ImPACT [neurocognitive] test, which showed no problems. However, we all think it's best that he sits out the next two games as a precaution."

Crosby and linemate Chris Kunitz collided late in the Boston game. Crosby favored his knee and looked to be in pain, but he returned to the game a few minutes later.

Markov, Surgery, out another 3 weeks.

Seriously?  Markov, the Montreal defenseman?  Again?  Shouldn't he just retire?

Is that the 3rd surgery on his right knee in the last 18 months? If so, not good in terms of his career.

His knee may be telling him it's time to retire.

Two and a half more years at $5.75 million per year is probably giving him pretty good incentive not to though.

That contract was a head scratcher when it was signed in the summer. Looks like the critics were right on that one.

I don't want to speak for certain, but any long-term effects on his knee are probably already going to happen at this point.  I'm sure doctors have run him through all of the short-term and long-term complications.

I think we have a challenger to JFJ and his Belfour deal....
