2011/2012 Injury Thread

TSNBobMcKenzie: Pronger out indefinitely with concussion or concussion-like symptoms. Going to see the Pittsburgh concussion doctors.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Belief is Pronger suffered more than an eye injury when struck by Grabovski's stick. He came back to play but stopped because of a "virus."

TSNBobMcKenzie: Fairly obvious now that the "virus" was in fact post-concussion but Pronger will now get expert medical advice on that in Pittsburgh.

I'm confused, are they trying to say Grabbo's stick gave him a concussion? I don't recall that much contact, seems odd, maybe it's my memory of it.

Seems weird to me, as well. Perhaps it caused something else that has similar symptoms - possibly an eye injury of some kind. Who knows?

So the Flyers doctors failed to diagnose a concussion?   :) (old joke - couldn't help myself)

To their credit, they've been winning without him.

Yeah, I dunno, I keep thinking something to do with infection/swelling in the orbital socket/sinus but LK would be the one to ask for sure.

I was thinking along the same lines. Eye injuries can definitely cause some of the same symptoms we frequently associate with concussions - things like headaches, dizziness, light sensitivity, etc.

No wonder he is going to Pittsburg ...

Bad for the NHL, but good for Kessel and the Leafs. Kessel can retake the scoring lead and Philly is now down their two best players.

Horrible for my pool.

I wonder if they try to pry Ryan Suter out on Nashville. If Pronger never comes back I think the Flyers would be fine with that. Put him om LTIR until his contract is done.

edit: lol, tsn must read posts here. They just said the same thing.

For 5 years? I don't think he's finished in the NHL just for this season.

They don't have enough cap space for Suter next year.

Or do you mean trade for him for the remainder of this season, and then let him sign somewhere else in the off-season? It would be an awfully high price to pay for half a seasons rental.

I guess it would depend on where they are at the dealine. I see JVR being moved before year end. Philly is team that would rather do a long term contract with lower numbers so I can see them getting something done.
