Game 9 - Leafs @ Rangers - Thursday Oct 27th 2011 - 19:00 EST - 4-2 Win

For those that continue to harp on Jonas ask yourself this, as much as we all would like to see what Scrivens can do in the NHL do you think Wilson will put his ass on the line right now with an unknown commodity in net?

Personally I'm happy to see Goose get the start, he needs to play, Scrivens doesn't at this point.

Yeah unless Goose gets absolutely ripped early, no point in seeing Scrivens at all. I agree. I'd also go with that line of thinking until Reimer comes back.

Yup, I think the Leafs need to know what they've got in him, especially at a moment like this ( big game in NY, Reimer out, yadda yadda )

Big test, hope he ate his pasta and got his nap.

As much as I want to see him play, starting Scrivens tonight would have been a bad idea. On top of the pressure of having your first start in NYC, he also played last night for the Marlies and has been shuttled back and forth a few times in the last few days. I'd start him on Sunday if Reimer isn't good to go by then, but, definitely not tonight.

They said Reimer should be back for the weekend, but if not Scrivens should play the Sens on Sunday, instead of the Penguins.

I don't think it would reflect negatively upon Wilson at all, Goose has a 4.86 GAA, and has been awful.  We need to win games, not experiment with a goalie who can't find any confidence.

Yeah, good points about the schedule and for sure if the Leafs get some points in the next couple then maybe it gives Wilson some breathing room to get him in, it's just not the right night ( well, unless Jonas craps the bed or the Leafs don't support him, then he might not have a choice )

I'm not sure what game you were watching but Goose was not the problem in Philly but I guess the obvious retort would be, but you would like to experiment with a complete rookie who has travelled and played last night?

At the home opener in one of the most storied arenas that has just undergone a refurbishing.

Sure, he is a young goalie, playing last night and traveling shouldnt hinder his ability to stop a puck.  And it seems curious to ask what game I was watching, have you not watched Gus for the past 2 years?  He had one stellar stretch, otherwise he has been nothing pedestrian, or worse.
