Leafs Acquire Riley Nash

Great move by Dubas here. Adding a quality 4th line center for the playoffs while not effecting our current cap situation.

That?s for determining fitness to play, not a conditioning stint. Freddie would have to agree to it, but it?s an option that?s available.

To stay on LTIR during it the 3 game/6 day conditioning loan would be the only option I think, not the 14 day one.

I?m not sure about that. They may have to do the initial determining fitness to play loan first, but I?m confident other players have stayed on LTIR during 14 day conditioning stints.

Maybe they've done the LTIR loan, got taken off LTIR , then done the 14-day conditioning loan. But the 14 day conditioning loan is for players on the active roster.

Come on, can't we throw in a complimentary 2nd rounder.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that while Andersen is on the LTIR, they will be able to carry a bigger roster and give guys like Thornton and Simmonds nights off if needed.

Or they can give Liljegren or Robertson a look too.

Man it?s even better at 5.8M

Hall and Ullmark at 50% retained for both is $5.3mil :o
Leafs only have around 4.2 Mill in space because Hutch is no longer an Emergency Loan and Barabanov or whoever will count agains the cap with Willy on IR. So they can get hall if Buff retains 1/2 or they involve a 3rd team.

Did anyone leave over and whisper in Keefe?s ear to remind him
That this was a cap move?
I don't think it was only a cap move though.

If it was, they can't come out and say that.

Let's just say it's super convenient.

I don't think it's just a cap move because they really only gain a player to play in the playoffs. They don't actually acquire space with Nash.

He'll play game 1 of the playoffs.
Depends on injuries but I can see him being the 4th line centre opening night in the POs.

Random speculation here: If Andersen's injury and lineup return prospects were much worse than is commonly believed, would the team be publicly acting any differently? They wouldn't want teams with goalies to know how relatively desperate they are for a goalie, and pending UFA Andersen would want to project as much of an image of future health as possible. He may well be fine to return soon enough, but I wouldn't discount the possibility that he won't be and the team fully knows it.

I feel like, if the team has known for some time, they would have already picked up another experienced goalie. Unless it?s something that was only revealed in his most recent check-in, I suspect they?ve been working under the assumption he?ll be back.
