Yu Darvish has a something something going through 7 innings.

Holy crap, through 8 innings now!  0 hits, 0 walks, 14 Ks and 107 pitches.  Damn, and I can't find the game on the tube...

Wow! 2 out single in the ninth to break up the perfect game.

I believe that's known as the Dave Stieb Special.

Yes, I should have said "Dude got Stiebed".  I forgot Jim Clancy's near perfect game wasn't with 2 outs.

Yeah. Stieb lost 3 no hitters with 2 outs in the 9th - though, only one would have been a perfect game.

So Baltimore loses its first one run game of the season after a remarkable 2012. Here's to many more. :)

Is it wrong for me to have a sense of satisfaction that the O's have started the season 0-3 in one run games?

That could be a strike. It's where the ball crosses the plate not where the catcher catches it. That said, it looks outside anyways. It probably was a brutal call.

@Ern (if you're out there.) Someone in my fantasy baseball league just put Heyward on waivers for the purpose of picking up while I think is a pretty unimpressive SP. I know he's had a slow start but don't you find that odd? Is there something going on with him that I should know about before I make a claim attempt? I'm just worried because I know this fantasy player well and he's no sports dummy.

His approach at the plate has been very impressive this year.  He seems to have rediscovered the batting eye he had as a rookie.

The walk rate so far this year is 14.3%, up from 8.9% last year.  Rookie year was 14.6%.

The strikeout rate is also 14.3%, down from 23.3% last year.  Rookie year was 20.4%.

He's been very unlucky as a hitter so far, with a BABIP of .097.  He's had so many hard hit balls right to someone or to the warning track or just foul so far this season.  His hitting luck can only improve.

In spite of the slow start, I think he's primed for a very good season.

Thanks Ern... I went ahead and made the move. I already had both Uptons and the OCD in me (not really) made me pounce and I was successful in my waiver claim. I have him on my bench for this week as I understand the Braves face a whack of lefties this week and his career numbers vs. lefties aren't all the great. Or, I have it back asswards and it's righties.  :-\. Either way, I'm happy to keep him on my bench a week or two because I think he's worth being patent for. - Weird that my fantasy outfield is the entire Braves outfield.  :-\

Thanks for the vote of confidence with the move!
